Acorn emeries
I have just finished my second bowl of acorn emeries, the first bowl went to friends.
I loved making these especially as I had collected the acorn tops while on a very enjoyable weekend away with these friends, well it was our club's 10th anniversary reunion.
I used old tapetry fabric for the bottoms and it blended in so well with its rich texture. These will form part my range of items I'm making for my Awesome Autumn Open House event on 12th April.

The bunnies have multiplied!
Easter is fast approaching and the bunnies are hopping everywhere.
One, two and soon there were quite a few!
From hand-dyed colourwash cotton to a lovely old tapestry, each bunny has its own character. I have soooo enjoyed making these.

Just an old fashioned bunny
A simple traditional chocolate style aged bunny with an antique ribbon bow.
I love this bunny shape, it reminds me of my childhood, a typical drawing I often scribbled down on paper. A bunny that could be dressed up and made fancy or left as it is.

Autumnia
I love this season, love everything about it. I think its mostly the promise of cooler weather, the relief from that exhausting humidity that comes with our summer and the memories it brings back to mind.
I love the rich colours nature uses to paint her way, the madness of the March winds, the falling leaves. I remember as a child running though the newly gathered piles of leaves, that crunching sound under ones feet, the earthy scents, as leaves went flying. I remember toasting marshmellows on the end of long sticks and watching as the flames from burning leaves melted the sticky sweetness.
Its a season that really inspires me in my crafting, I could do "autumn" all year long!

Easter
With Easter open house now over, I have started to sort out my things to display around the house. One of the things I love to put up is my collection of old cards. I have collected greeting cards since I was a little girl, and each time I take the boxes out, it gives me such pleasure looking through them once again.
I have selected a few of the ones I call 'My Easter collection' to share with you.
The ducks and rabbits are from the Paint Box Forget-Me-Not collection, around 1993.
The sheep is "A Riverside Pasture with Sheep" William Sidney Cooper
This one is one of my favourites, why donkeys for Easter? -well I can't explain, it just looks like an Easter card to me!
This one is "Far from the Madding Crowd" William Weekes.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I always do.

Bowl of Eggs
Well I have started on my bowl of eggs, made four so far! I want to make at least twice as many by Saturday, not a difficult task but just trying to fit everything else in. I love the colours I have chosen for this Easters events, they look olde worlde and the off white spot on pink adds a touch of retro, well that's what I think anyhow.

Sum bunny loves you!
Here is a quick little gift to make for Easter. This little pocket pillow is part of my "Sum Bunny Loves You" range I am making for Easter workshops.
Here is what I did: Cut two pieces of fabric for pillow,(mine is pink with off white spots) you can cut it any size you want, square or rectangle. My one is a 8inch square allowing 1/2 inch for seams.
Cut a piece of fabric for outside pocket the same length as your pillow piece but about 2/3rd of its width, so mine is 8 inches by 6 inches. (green floral) Cut another piece of fabric the same size as this for lining.(solid green)
Make your pocket first by placing right sides together and sew along one length (8" side). Open out pocket and fold with wrong sides together. Press along your seam with your finger to flatten. If you are going to add a trim, do so now, I sewed on a small pink ric rac. You could also just sew a stitch line. This helps to prevent end from curling.
Now place your pocket in position on one pillow piece, lining of pocket on right side of pillow piece. It should reach from side to side of pillow and about 2/3rd up from bottom. Line up all edges. This is important as you want to catch pocket in your pillow seams as you sew. Place the other pillow piece on top of this with right sides facing pocket top. Pin all in place. Sew your 1/2 inch seam all the way around leaving a small opening about 3 inches in centre of top of pillow. Turn pillow right side out pushing all seams out flat, especially corners. Stuff pillow and close seam opening with a ladder stitch. This may sound long but its really easy and quick to make.
Place a little bunny in pocket, you can add an easter egg or two as well.
Will try and post on making bunny soon.
Hope you enjoy this, these pillow pockets are great gift givers and can be used for all sorts of events, friendship pillow, mothers' day and more.
If you do make a pocket pillow I would love to see pictures.
