Autumnia

I love this season, love everything about it. I think its mostly the promise of cooler weather, the relief from that exhausting humidity that comes with our summer and the memories it brings back to mind.
I love the rich colours nature uses to paint her way, the madness of the March winds, the falling leaves. I remember as a child running though the newly gathered piles of leaves, that crunching sound under ones feet, the earthy scents, as leaves went flying. I remember toasting marshmellows on the end of long sticks and watching as the flames from burning leaves melted the sticky sweetness.
Its a season that really inspires me in my crafting, I could do "autumn" all year long!

Farm Life

I always think back to my life as a child on our family farm, particularly at the start of a new year. It was the most wonderful childhood anyone could wish for, endless days of excitement, fun and freedom. My dear English grandfather and two uncles ran the farm and it was through their love of life that we too could enrich ours. Thoughts, memories and visions, as if it were yesterday, come flooding back, moments of reliving it in today, tastes, sounds and smells are all there, its still so much a part of me and yet many, many years have past.
This year, 2008 I have made my goal to gather as many photos of this wonderful time as I can and put them together in a book of "Memories of a Farm." Here are a few above to share with you.

Coffee anyone?

Today I found this cute enamel coffee pot and milk pan, and it goes so well with the mini enamel mugs I had already. Hubby and I sat down this evening and enjoyed our first pot of coffee in this set. It bought back memories of my childhood, life on the farm. We always had a pot of coffee bubbling away on the coal stove, that aroma filtering through the farmhouse, giving it a warm inviting homely feel. There were always huge mason jars of freshly baked rusks to enjoy with the coffee, of course as children we were allowed to dunk our rusks if no visitors were present. Ahh..... the memories, I just love enamelware!
