It's that crazy pincushion time again for me. I'm so hooked on making these, I just can't stop. I needed some for my Valentine open house so made a few of those tiny ones, great for taking around in your sewing bag. Some are in cotton red stripe and wool with roses or hearts for the "Roses are red" theme, others and I think my favourite, are the pink stripecotton and wool felt, Sweet as sugar candy" ones. I so enjoyed making the birds and berries, the little pot was one of my recent discoveries on my Wednesday wandering. I have a few more to make for Easter.

Heart pincushion
Just finished a heart pincushion for Valentine. As well as a pincushion, its a scissor keeper and needle book. My theme for my Valentine open house on 9th February is "roses are red" and it will be more along the lines of vintage/victoriana/country/prim. I have so many ideas buzzing around my head but am finding it hard to get down to work after the holidays.

Out of the Blue
Latest pincushion - "Out of the Blue". Its is a sort of play on words story behind this pincushion. A couple of years ago, I went on a felting seminar where we each had to give a workshop on felt and felting, I gave one on needle felting. Anyhow I learnt so much on other forms of felting, particularly wet felting and making felt. Well one of the things I made was a pair of blue baby's booties with a knitted top. After the seminar, I tucked these away as I really didn't know what to do with them, no babies at home and no grandchildren yet. Well today out of the blue, while clearing some boxes, I found these again and suddenly had the idea of turning them into pin cushions.

Pineapple Pincushion Make-do
What a mouthful!. This is my latest make-do, a pineapple pincushion. Hand quilted, took me ages and I almost gave up, aged, baked to give it that prim look. I starched and aged the leaves so that they kept their shape. The pineapple stands on a lovely old hand carved candleholder, this piece of wood inspired me to make a pineapple because of its carvings.
