Waste not, Want not...............

The old saying, "Waste not, want not," couldn't be more true in making this pincushion heart.

I had been saving all my scraps of fabric from my recent sewing activities, I just can't bear to throw any away and knew I would come up with an idea to use them up. Well here is my 'waste not, want not' pincushion heart, made entirely from scraps of fabric, a combination of wool, cotton and ticking, sewn together in a crazy patchwork style and stuffed with more scraps of fabric. Two buttons and a bit of ribbon finishes it off.It was fun to make, oh so easy and I love the weight the fabric stuffing gives to the heart.

Hand appliqued bags

Here are some hand appliqued bags just finished by my friend Anne Hande. The linen bags are boxed and lined in lovely matching cotton fabric with inside pocket, buttoned handles and heart hand applique in crazy patchwork and edged in a little embroidery. The bags measure 16 inches from top to bottom and 11.5 inches across, great bag for all sorts of uses. Take a look at Whimsical's Wednesday wanderings for more bags.

Crazy Patchwork -Scissor Fob and Old boxes

Today I learnt how to do crazy patchwork. Anne my quilter friend gave us a workshop making a scissor fob using crazy patchwork. I LOVE IT! oh I can't wait to try out more ideas, ideas that just kept tumbling around in my head as i was working on the scissor pouch. Crazy patchword is wonderful to use up all those scraps of fabric and bits and pieces for embellishing. Will show a picture of mine as soon as it's is finished. Old boxes. I love boxes of all sizes, especially old wooden ones. Here are three smallish ones from my collection.
The one on the left is quite old and has mother-of-pearl inlay. The centre one is not as old and has a working clock inside. The little one on the right is the latest one in my collection and comes from Egypt. My daughter bought is as a gift from her recent holiday there. It is very pretty and lots of inlay work.
